Girly Girl Tinkerbell

2011 Diva Cakes
Which girl doesn't like Tinkerbell? Nabiely's cake was one full of fairies, flowers, and girly colors.... Did I have fun with this one? Oh Yes!!!

Everything you see except the dolls is edible. I must use this opportunity to orient my clients on Disney, Nickelodeon and other official characters. All official characters are protected by law and cannot be reproduced without permission! This has to do with copyright infringement and the creator's right to win royalties out of any character sale. That is why the characters have to be store-bought. Just a thought for you so you know why your pastry artist cannot profit from a reproduced character!

So we created a great environment for Tinkerbell and friends in this two-tiered cake. Nabiely loved her cake and her birthday party; I felt like a little girl playing and decorating the cake!

"I Still Do"

This cake is one that is popular among my clients because it is simple, yet elegant, and affordable. Using natural roses a great way to provide cost-effective cakes that are tasteful and won't compromise style.

My good friend Rochelle wanted to surprise her husband with a diamond wedding anniversary party, and wanted a cake with the same colors as their original wedding cake 10 years earlier--white, black and red. Long story short, this was the outcome, and they both loved it! This cake proves that easy, simple and elegant are words that can definitively be in one same sentence!

It's a Baby Girl for the Amorosi Family....

... And my awesome boss Dusti relied on my skills to make my highly acclaimed "bottoms up" baby cake for their baby shower. However, she challenged me with something I had not tried before: zebra striped fondant. I love to try new stuff so of course I said yes!

I am never ashamed to say that I am a self-taught pastry chef. My mother-in-law showed me the basics, and I've been playing with ideas and finding new designs and techniques ever since. Now, this was a new try for me, so I researched a bit online and sure enough, and thanks to the magic of youtube, I found a nice technique on SweetWiseInc's channel on how to effortlessly work the zebra technique. And boy did it work!

The zebra "baby throw" over the pink cake looked fabulous. A little girly details here and there for a finishing touch and voila! The cake was Red Velvet, baby mama's favorite. Baby Amorosi was born a healthy little girl last month and is now comfortably on mommy and daddy's arms. Congratulations Christel and Craig!

A Thanksgiving Wedding

2011 Diva Cakes, All Rights Reserved
My friend Elizabeth called me last week with great news: This Thanksgiving would come with wedding bells for the Rodriguez! A flash wedding doesn't mean it can't be done in style! For this small family wedding they asked me for a cake that is simple, yet very elegant. A two-tiered cake with a cascade of roses.

To enhance the champagne color of the fondant, I slightly airbrushed it with pearl color (my new favorite) and it truly gave it a nice kick! I cascaded the natural roses all the way down and used fondant leaves (with a heavier airbrush for contrast) as kinda-sorta foliage. I then used the same leaves to add some texture to the rest of the cake.

I wish I had taken closer pictures, I was pleased with the details. If only my friend and awesome photographer Beck Wagnon was there to take the pictures for me, but she's too busy having fun in Jamaica!

Revamping my website!

Time to dust off my website and give it a kick. It still needs some work and the real domain is not up yet (it will become www.divacakesbyeunice.com) but for now, check out www.eunicecake.com!

Now time to prepare for tomorrow's wedding cake. Sunday will be a baby shower for twins. How cool is that! Very excited, customers asked for two of my most popular cakes: Natural rose cascade and the "baby butts," which I LOVE to design.
